HANDCRAFTED MODERN
When we encountered this 1956 Cherrywood gem, it had barely been touched in the intervening years.
We revamped the interior to add warmth, light, and functionality while retaining the integrity of the space. Handcrafted and vintage furnishings and unique artwork were very important as we slowly populated the home over time.
The original bathroom was Pepto-Bismol pink, with a very low vanity and barely enough room to move around. We reconfigured the closets of the bedrooms on either side to enlarge the room, so that there is a separation between the main bathing room and the WC. New vanity tiles were handmade by our friends at Era Ceramics.
The quilt on the bed was made by the homeowner’s grandmother from their grandfather’s retired polyester suits. The boro in the background was picked up during travels in Japan.
