jewel box in the sky
In this Austin Proper pied-à-terre, we rooted ourselves in the Kelly Wearstler vibe.
Our aim was to create a layered interior that opened to the sky in the main living space and hugged you into the private spaces. We wanted to enhance the sense of elevation, both literal and figurative.
The floating central bed allows the homeowners to wake up to the dazzling view and provides added privacy for the bath.
Custom cabinetry creates an artful record niche, while concealing the guts of the sound system and affording record storage. We focused on luxe jewel tones and pattern on pattern on pattern as a hat tip and to create a continuity between the Wearstler-designed building and the home.
We utilized forms that played on the unique geometry of the space and the beloved art and furnishings belonging to our clients, like the Eames dining chairs and the Patty Wilson gold and navy blue painting.
A favorite moment in the home, this custom art niche features an abstract art piece by Angela Navarro. We love the color and the movement she captures – it somehow feels very midcentury.
We built out the interior with storage in mind: everything has its place. This custom cabinet at the entry was a drop zone for keys and included shoe storage.
